A changing electric vehicle landscape and the need for updated bylaws

It is now well known that 2035 will be the last year for the sale of new ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles in Canada.
This is to minimize the impact that light-duty vehicles have on overall carbon (or green house gas) emissions and to work towards a net-zero transportation system.
With increasing selection and accessibility to ZEV (zero emission vehicle) models, the goals established for sales are being met, but the work on adapting home infrastructure to be electric vehicle ready (or EV-ready) for the charging needs of these vehicles is still slow-going.
Getting 30% of Canada’s home infrastructure EV Ready
Charging bylaws for multi-unit residential buildings such as condos, stratas and apartment buildings have the potential to create a standard for minimum EV readiness in what is 30% of the home infrastructure of Canada.
RVE, and its brand Murbly, support the implementation of these bylaws, with the exception that they take into account the most future-proofed charging solutions, as charging technology is subject to change between now and 2035, and that chosen solutions suit the particular needs of each municipality.
